Franck Ribéry is a French football player who currently plays for Bayern Munich as attacking midfielder, and recently has been praised as the successor to the French team legend Zinédine Zidane, due to his increasingly impressive performances. In the EURO 2008, Ribery led the charge for the French, who were eliminated in the final Group stage of the tournament. Rivery was a one-man show.
Ribery - A New French Legend
Ribery's first World Cup was a success. When the French team faced Brazil on July 1, 2006, Ribery was substituted in the 75th minute, and the match ended in a 1-0 victory. He also played in the World Cup final where the team was defeated by Italy, but he almost scored with a low, close shot early in extra-time.
Ribéry is a Muslim, having converted to Islam around the time he married his Muslim fiance Wahiba Belhami who is Algerian. Ribéry has adopted the Arabic name Bilal. They have one daughter together, Hizya, who was born on July 18, 2005. When he was two he was in a car crash and was thrown through the windshield, and this accident has left significant scars on the right side of his face and his forehead.
